All bench, no bureaucracy. The Discovery MS research initiative at the David H. Murdock Research Institute (DHMRI) is up-ending the standard funding model for biomedical research, proposing to establish a core endowment which will fund our research projects in perpetuity. An independent research endowment will allow us to pursue high-risk, high-reward research projects that aren’t restricted to timelines established by granting agencies.

Your tax-deductible donation supports:

  • cutting-edge exploratory research that typically isn’t funded by conventional low-risk funding mechanisms
  • a sustainable funding model, freeing scientists to stay at the bench instead of pursuing grants
  • discovery-driven research that follows the results without being locked into a specific research project

A note on our funding. Discovery MS is a DHMRI-based research initiative. The DHMRI is a nonprofit organization promoting public/private research and development opportunities in human health, nutrition, and agriculture.  All donations made to the DHMRI through this site are earmarked for Discovery MS and are tax-deductible.

We have both corporate and individual sponsorships available. Join our team!

fig_donate-now MS takes a steep physical, emotional, and financial toll, and there is currently no cure. But there is hope. Discovery MS’ innovative research is advancing our understanding of how MS starts and how it progresses, which is crucial to developing the improved diagnostic methods and prognostic markers so desperately needed. Your donations directly fund our research with the aim of improving the lives of 400,000 individuals with MS in the US and 2.5 million worldwide.

Walk to end MS

The National MS Society (NMSS) hosts an annual MS Walk right on the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis, NC. While Discovery MS has no affiliation with the NMSS and receives no funding from them, we do field a team for the walk. It’s a lot of fun and raises money for valuable support services for individuals with MS and their families. Start your own team, or join ours! All funds donated to our walk team go directly to the NMSS. If you would like to fund our research please do so through our donation page.
